I am running the takes an input of fields to then report out to a txt output. It goes through the object, puts the data in an array, and then later outputs to txt output (that I read into excel). It reads the "regular" object and module level attributes fine ... it is not recognize the attribute dxl field ... the script also later goes through the link modules, etc for other "stuff" ... if I run the script a second time, it does find the attribute DXL fields. so, I have an attribute dxl file o."some name" (which is attribute dxl ... that is based on a incoming link) ...

Re: DXL script not recognizing Attribute DXL field Hi Larry,
Your post leaves a lot of questions open, which might be best answered by sharing your code, if you are able to.
Starters for ten: Does your code open the module itself, or does it run from an already open module? If the former, does it open it displayed, or not?
It's interesting that you're putting the data in an array. It's unlikely that this is relevant to your problem, but you'll likely achieve better performance and simpler code by putting the data into a buffer then writing that to the stream - unless there's a compelling reason for using an array that I haven't foreseen (entirely possible!).

Re: DXL script not recognizing Attribute DXL field I'm guessing the attr-DXL queries incoming links but does not auto-open those other modules. DXL will not see an incoming "Link" unless the other module is open. When some other attr-DXL that does open modules is run, or in your case you follow incoming links and open those modules, then such an attr-DXL will display results. The DXL manual has a good example of how to routinely read information from incoming links. Before the "Link" loop you have a "LinkRef" loop which gives you the name of the source module, which you then open. Then the "Link" loop will work. -Louie |
